Inhabits shallow subtidal area below low water mark often attached to oysters and mussels In France has altered benthic habitat through smothering of sediment beds with densities of 000's/m2 that trap suspended silt, faeces and pseudofaeces Exclude other bivalves including oysters to whose beds they are a serious threat. Also a major threat to other protected species	Contaminant of oyster spat. Hull fouling
Management
Prevention Take measures to ensure there is no transport of bilgewater between waterbodies and inspect boat hulls, trailers, outboard engines, I/O drive legs, water intakes, exhausts and trailers for fouling/ infestation before moving between waterbodies. Avoid importation of contaminated oyster spat or other products or equipment.  Physical Control Mechanical removal is possible. Chemical Control Unknown Biological Control Unknown
