Existing Control and Eradication Programmes

The spread of INNS along river catchments and loch shorelines and their impact on aquatic ecosystems are of increasing concern to Scotland's Rivers and Fisheries Trusts. As a result a number of Trusts have obtained support and resources to initiate control and eradication programmes for riparian INNS. These include:

  • Ayrshire Rivers Trust (Giant Hogweed and Japanese Knotweed)
  • Cromarty Firth Fisheries Trust (Rhododendron and Himalayan Balsam)
  • Deveron, Bogie and Isla Fisheries Trust (Giant Hogweed and Japanese Knotweed)
  • Galloway Fisheries Trust (Japanese Knotweed)
